Privacy policy
Last updated 2 September 2026. This website and the Local Translate application are operated by BIM Groupe Holding International Limited, a company incorporated in the British Virgin Islands, company number 2156814.
What we hold
Short, because we hold very little
What you translate
Your text never leaves your machine. There is no upload
because there is no translation server: the model runs locally and the application's own
API is bound to 127.0.0.1. We could not read what you translate even if we
were asked to, because it never reaches us. This is the entire point of the product.
This website
The site is static HTML. It sets no advertising cookies,
runs no analytics script and embeds no third-party trackers. One value is stored in your
browser's local storage, never sent anywhere, and readable only by this site:
cvt_theme, your light or dark preference. Clearing your browser data removes
it. The only external origin the pages contact is Google Fonts, for the two typefaces.
Your account
If you buy a licence we store an email address, a hashed password, the fact that you own Local Translate, the price you paid, the date you paid it, and an identifier for the Mac the licence is active on — a hardware identifier used to hold the one-Mac-at-a-time limit and to release the old Mac when you move the licence. It is not linked to anything you translate, because we do not have anything you translate.
Payments
Payments are handled by our payment provider, who acts as merchant of record and is shown to you at checkout. They process your card details; we receive confirmation that payment succeeded, the amount, and the email address on the order. We never see or hold your full card number.
Who else sees your data
The payment provider, for the purpose of taking payment and handling refunds and chargebacks, and the hosting provider that serves this site and the account server. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your account for as long as you have a licence, because a perpetual licence needs a record to be perpetual. Records of a transaction are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it. Deleting the account removes the record of your purchase, which ends the licence, so be sure before you ask. Use the contact page and we will answer within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. A change that materially affects what we hold will be notified to account holders by email.
